The Chief Rabbinate of Israel has announced that it will start regulating the shape of bourekas, a flaky dough pastry, in order to make it easier for Israelis to keep kosher. Dairy-filled and parve-filled pastries will each have a distinct shape that all bakeries throughout Israel will have to adhere to, in order to ensure that Jews who keep kosher know exactly what’s in their bourekas.
